Purchase Engineer is responsible for sourcing and procuring raw materials, components, and services. This role ensures the timely availability of quality materials while optimizing costs and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Operations:
- Identify and procure raw materials, components, and consumables
- Issue purchase orders (POs) and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain optimal stock levels to prevent production delays.
- Supplier Management:
- Evaluate, negotiate, and onboard reliable suppliers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing.
- Cost Management:
- Source materials at the most competitive prices without compromising quality.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through alternate suppliers or materials.
- Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all procured items meet specified standards.
- Address and resolve issues related to defective or non-conforming materials.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate records of POs, invoices, and supplier agreements.
- Ensure procurement practices comply with company policies and industry standards.
- Coordination:
- Work closely with the production, quality, and inventory teams to align material requirements with production schedules.
- Provide regular updates on procurement status to the management team.
