Position Summary
The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring quality procedures and standards throughout civil construction projects. This role ensures that all construction activities meet contractual specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements. The candidate must have strong experience in civil contracting works, material quality inspections, site testing, and documentation control.
Key Responsibilities1. Quality Assurance & Control
- Develop and implement QA/QC procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality checklists.
- Ensure that all work complies with project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Coordinate with the site team to ensure proper execution of quality requirements.
2. Site Inspection & Testing
- Perform inspections for all civil construction activities (excavation, concrete, rebar, formwork, finishing, infrastructure works, etc.).
- Verify and monitor material deliveries and ensure compliance with approved material submittals.
- Coordinate field tests with third-party laboratories as required.
3. Documentation & Records
- Maintain all QA/QC records, logs, reports, and quality documentation.
- Review and approve material submittals, method statements, and technical documents.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QA/QC reports.
4. NCR, CAR & Corrective Actions
- Identify and report non-conformities (NCRs) and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Follow up on closure of NCRs and ensure compliance before continuation of work.
5. Coordination with Stakeholders
- Liaise with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding quality matters.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
- Assist the project team in resolving technical issues related to quality.
6. Continuous Improvement
- Promote quality awareness across the workforce.
- Implement best practices to enhance quality performance and reduce reworks.
- Monitor project KPIs related to quality compliance and workmanship.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of QA/QC experience in civil contracting projects.
- Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, standards, and testing procedures.
- Experience with concrete works, infrastructure, utilities, and building projects.
- Familiar with ISO 9001 standards and quality audit systems.
- Certifications in QA/QC, ISO, or related fields are an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of construction standards, specifications, and project quality requirements.
- Excellent technical reporting and documentation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficient in MS Office and QA/QC documentation software.
