Job Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor with strong contractual experience to manage cost control, valuations, variations, and claims on construction projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in preparing IPA (Interim Payment Applications), IPC (Interim Payment Certificates), handling variation claims, and liaising effectively with main contractors, clients, and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial & Quantity Surveying Duties:
- Prepare and submit accurate Interim Payment Applications (IPA) and manage the Interim Payment Certificate (IPC) process.
- Evaluate, prepare, and validate Variation Orders (VOs) with full supporting documentation.
- Negotiate variation pricing with main contractors and clients to reach agreement.
- Monitor actual vs. forecasted costs and prepare periodic commercial reports.
- Conduct site measurements and valuation of work in progress.
Contractual Duties:
- Administer contracts in line with FIDIC, NEC, or bespoke contractual frameworks.
- Prepare and submit claims for variations, delays, and extensions of time (EOT).
- Support project teams in resolving commercial and contractual disputes.
- Liaise with legal, client, and consultant teams for claim substantiation and resolution.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for contractual correspondence and claims.
Stakeholder & Interface Management:
- Liaise with main contractors, clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure clarity and alignment on commercial matters.
- Attend progress and commercial meetings as required.
- Act as the commercial point of contact for day-to-day contractual issues.
Requirements:
Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in quantity surveying with strong exposure to contract administration.
- Demonstrable experience handling IPA, IPC, variation claims, pricing negotiations, and client-facing roles.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of construction contracts (FIDIC, JCT, NEC, etc.).
- Proficient in preparing and defending variation and claim submissions.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract clauses confidently.
- Proficient in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Excel/Word.
Desirable:
- Experience in dispute resolution and arbitration support.
- Previous experience on [infrastructure/commercial/oil & gas] projects.
