Senior Resident Inspector

Position Summary:

PEER Consultants is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer/Resident Representative to join our team for the opportunity to work in a fast paced, dynamic Civil/Environmental Engineering environment. This position will provide construction phase administration, management, and engineering services and field oversite on any number of high-profile, complex construction projects across all PEER disciplines, with a primary focus on Water Treatment processes and treatment plant construction. Relevant experience may also include wastewater infrastructure, utility, and transportation projects throughout New England.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

· Provide resident representative or resident engineer services on municipal infrastructure projects including but not limited to: overseeing the daily construction progress on behalf of the owner, maintaining detailed daily records; reviewing contractor activities, test records and results; verification of workforce compliance; and reviewing and verifying contractor(s) applications for payment.

· May manage the work of a small team of engineers, resident inspectors and/or technicians depending on the assignment.

· Being fully competent in the review and analysis of contractor progress schedules, budget, claims and changes administration, and possesses the ability to perform engineering planning, analysis and/or design duties is a plus.

· Plans and conducts work requiring judgement in independent evaluation, selection and as needed adaption/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.

· Supports business development activities including identification opportunities with existing clients and, as appropriate, offering PEER’s services, and proposal preparation assistance.

· Independently performs most assignments with instruction only regarding general expected results. Receives technical guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval for project plans. Provides weekly project status updates.

· Ensures that company quality standards are adhered to and maintained.

· Complies with applicable safety rules and regulations.

· Assumes other related responsibilities from time to time, as required.

Knowledge, Education & Experience: (Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position)

· Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience, or a Master’s Degree in a related field and a minimum of 6 years of experience, or a PhD in a related field with a minimum of 4 years of experience is required.

· A minimum of 4 years engineering design and/or construction management experience is required.

· A minimum of 4 years underground pipelines, water/wastewater pumping station and/or treatment plant experience is required.

· Transportation system experience is a plus.

· Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer or Certified Construction Manager a plus.

· Personal smart phone is required – computer, tablet and or other devices supplied based on project requirements.

· Up-to-date knowledge of computers (including tablets) and current software tools used in the engineering design and construction management profession is required.

· Strong oral and written communications skills and demonstrated proposal/report writing and presentation ability is required.

Working Conditions: (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position.)

External: Travel is required. Travel typically consists of travel to project site and client offices in Massachusetts. Work is normally performed on a construction site with exposure to construction noise and various weather conditions and requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). The job will require interaction with the general public.

Internal: Work is normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment. No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of internal job duties.

Physical Demands: (The physical effort generally associated with this position.)

Work may involve lifting and carrying, over short distances, packages, documents, laptop computers, and other equipment weighing less than 50 pounds. Visits to project sites involve standing and walking but most office duties may be performed from a seated position.

Pay: $28.50 - $34.32 per hour
