The Division
Founded in 1988, Hellenic Systems Ltd specialises in providing cutting-edge solutions for the food and manufacturing industries. Today, we serve over 170 food factories across the UK and Europe, covering everything from primary processing to added-value operations.
As a UK-based manufacturer of specialised computer systems, one of our core strengths lies in our ability to deliver diverse application design solutions while also offering standardised packages. We take pride in our flexible approach to system solutions. While most of our systems are constructed from standard modules, we excel at tailoring solutions to fit our clients' specific needs. The Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Software Developer with strong expertise in C/C++, .NET, SQL Server, and AI driven software development practices to join our development team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software solutions that power our industrial systems and terminal line technologies. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication to collaborate effectively across hardware, software, and client-facing teams.
The individual will thrive in a technically challenging environment, working on both new product development and legacy system enhancement, while ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability in real-world industrial environments.

The successful hire will work from the Contour Software Lahore office as part of the resource-center team that is an extension of the division-based R&D department.
Job Responsibilities
Embedded Software Development
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded software using C and C++.
- Develop low-level drivers and hardware interface logic.
- Integrate embedded systems with higher-level .NET applications and backend services.
AI-Driven System Development
- Contribute to the design and integration of AI-powered features within embedded and connected systems.
- Integrate AI/ML APIs and services into our software solutions (e.g., vision, OCR, anomaly detection, predictive analytics) into applications.
- Support deployment of AI-driven capabilities in industrial environments.
- Collaborate with wider team to embed intelligent automation into system workflows.
Application & System Integration
- Develop supporting applications and APIs using .NET (C#).
- Integrate systems with SQL Server databases for transactional and reporting functions.
- Ensure seamless communication between embedded devices, scanners, printers, PLCs, and backend systems.
CI/CD & DevOps
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for embedded and application software.
- Manage version control and automated testing processes.
- Support structured deployment practices across on-premise and cloud-connected environments.
Code Quality & Testing
- Produce clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Conduct peer code reviews and follow development standards.
- Develop automated tests and validation procedures.
- Debug complex hardware-software integration issues.
Legacy System Management
- Introduce new features while providing support to the clients
- Refactor and modernise legacy embedded codebases.
- Improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
- Document system architecture, AI integration points, and deployment processes.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development and industrial systems.
Technical Expertise
Embedded Development:
- Strong proficiency in C and C++
- Experience with embedded Linux or RTOS environments
- Hardware interface experience (serial, TCP/IP, USB, GPIO, etc.)
- Experience integrating with industrial devices (scanners, printers, PLCs, weighing systems)
Application Development:
- Strong experience with .NET (C#)
- API development and service integration
- Experience working with Windows-based industrial systems
AI Software Development Skills (Essential / Strongly Preferred)
- Experience integrating AI/ML APIs into production systems
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Codex, Cursor etc.)
- Understanding of AI-driven product development lifecycle (AI-DLC)
- Experience consuming AI services (OCR, computer vision, NLP, anomaly detection, etc.)
- Ability to evaluate and integrate AI models into business workflows
- Knowledge of performance considerations when deploying AI in constrained or embedded environments
Database:
- SQL Server
- T-SQL
- Schema design and performance optimisation
CI/CD & DevOps:
- Experience with Git
- CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar)
- Automated builds and deployment strategies
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) is advantageous
Code Quality & Optimisation:
- Refactoring legacy code
- Debugging complex system-level issues
- Performance tuning and optimisation
Software Engineering:
- Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns
- Secure coding practices
- Experience working in Agile environments
