Reports to: Procurement Manager /Operations Manager /General Manager
Interfaces with: Procurement Department, Production / Fabrication Team, Quality Control (QC) Department, Logistics / Dispatch Team, Project Management Team, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Team
Key Responsibilities
Material Management
- Receive, inspect, and verify structural steel, fabrication consumables, and other materials as per purchase orders.
- Ensure proper storage of raw materials (steel plates, beams, channels, welding consumables, fasteners, etc.) to prevent damage and wastage.
- Maintain proper labeling, coding, and stacking materials in line with safety standards.
- Issue materials to production teams as per approved requisitions.
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records in ERP/manual stock register.
- Conduct regular stock checks and reconciliation with physical stock.
- Monitor minimum stock levels and raise purchase requests with the procurement team.
- Track material consumption against projects and update reports accordingly.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare Goods Receipt Notes (GRN), Material Issue Vouchers, and other store-related documents.
- Maintain updated material inward/outward records.
- Generate periodic inventory and consumption reports for management.
- Coordinate with Accounts/Finance for invoice verification and reconciliation.
Coordination & Compliance
- Liaise with the procurement and production departments for the timely availability of materials.
- Ensure compliance with the store area's health, safety, and housekeeping standards.
- Support project teams by ensuring the correct material is issued on time.
- Handle tools and equipment management, including calibration and servicing records.
Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in store management, preferably in the structural steel or fabrication industry.
- Strong knowledge of steel grades, fabrication consumables, and tools.
- Proficiency in ERP systems/MS Excel for inventory management.
- Good communication, organizational, and team coordination skills.
- Knowledge of safety practices for handling heavy steel and consumables.
