Summary of the role:
The Senior Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and analyzing buildings to ensure they are safe, stable, and durable for various architectural projects, through creating blueprints, performing safety calculations, and ensuring compliance with building codes, whilst collaborating with architects and interior designers, mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure the overall coherence and aesthetic expectations of the project are met.
Key responsibilities:
- Designing concrete and steel structural elements such as foundations, beams, columns, etc. for various architectural projects.
- Create detailed blueprints, drawings and construction documents outlining the specifications for the structural elements.
- Performing calculations and analyses to ensure safety and compliance with building codes, zoning laws as per local and international regulations.
- Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure electrical designs are fully aligned and properly integrated across all building systems.
- Collaborate closely with architects and interior designers to integrate structural systems into the overall design while achieving both structural integrity and aesthetic requirements.
- Prepare coordinated structural layouts and BIM models using Revit and AutoCAD in line with project and company BIM standards.
- Prepare technical specifications and support quantity take-offs and BOQs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable design codes, authority regulations, project requirements, and company standards.
- Participate in value engineering exercises and propose technically sound and cost-effective design solutions.
- Stay informed on the latest trends, materials and technology in the industry to keep our projects at the forefront of innovation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 10+ years of professional experience as a Structural Engineer working on various for residential and commercial Projects in the region.
- Preferably a registered professional or member of a professional engineering (PE) society.
- Demonstrable portfolio with strong experience in delivering high-end projects.
- Experience with GCC projects
- Experience preparing authority submissions within GCC specifically KSA and UAE.
- BIM workflow experience using Revit Structural.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in structural design softwares such as ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.
- Proficiency in structural drawing using software such as AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Good understanding of engineering principles and structural analysis techniques.
- Strong knowledge of local and international building codes, American & British, and regulations.
- High attention to detail in design calculations, measurements, and specifications.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to solve complex technical problems.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent English Language.
