Senior Technical Engineer

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

The Senior Technical Engineer plays a critical role in supporting project delivery through technical expertise, design coordination, method statements, and engineering solutions. They act as a bridge between the design/consultant team, project management, and site execution teams, ensuring that technical aspects of construction align with client specifications, codes, and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Design Coordination

Review project designs, IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings, and specifications to identify discrepancies, clashes, and constructability issues.

Provide technical solutions and alternatives to optimize cost, time, and quality.

Prepare and review shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals for consultant approval.

Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers on technical issues.

Site Support

Support site teams by resolving technical queries and ensuring work execution aligns with approved drawings and specifications.

Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved technical documents.

Lead troubleshooting for unforeseen technical challenges during construction.

Project Controls & Documentation

Ensure engineering documents are up to date and systematically archived.

Prepare technical reports, compliance checklists, and progress updates for management and clients.

Support project managers in tendering, estimation, and technical evaluations when needed.

Leadership & Mentoring

Guide junior engineers and draftsmen in preparing drawings, calculations, and submittals.

Conduct technical workshops or sessions to maintain knowledge sharing within the engineering team.

Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline (Master’s preferred for specialized fields).

Experience: 7–12 years of experience in construction/engineering projects, preferably in infrastructure, utilities, oil & gas, or heavy civil works.

Technical Knowledge:

Strong command of international codes & standards (BS, ASTM, ACI, ASME, etc.).

Proficiency in CAD, BIM, and relevant engineering software.

Familiarity with project planning tools (Primavera/MS Project) is a plus.

Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, leadership, communication, and client-facing abilities.

Certifications: PMP, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent certifications are an advantage.
