Position Description

Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation’s largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. Seattle City Light is seeking two Senior Training & Education Coordinator to join the Workforce Education and Engagement team within the People and Culture business Unit. The ideal candidate will be passionate about people development, committed to creating engaging learner experiences, and focused on fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering programs, while building strong relationships across departments and driving professional development initiatives that enhance employee growth. We are looking for an individual who can adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a collaborative environment.

This is a hybrid position based in Seattle. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite at least three days a week with the possibility of working additional onsite days when the work requires. We believe that connection fuels innovation and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship and shared success.

This position will report to the Workforce Education and Engagement Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Training Coordination: Design and evaluate safety and technical training programs that meet organizational needs.
  • Collaboration & Relationship Building: Partner with leadership and stakeholders to ensure training aligns with business needs.
  • Project & Program Management: Lead training initiatives from planning to execution, meeting deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Employee Development: Assess workforce needs and implement solutions that promote growth across the employee lifecycle.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend enhancements to strengthen learning outcomes.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage training budgets and ensure cost-effective program delivery.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment collaboration to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Science, Business or Public Administration, or a related field (other combinations of education, training and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability).
  • Experience: Three years professional experience in adult training/education administration, training project management, and/or educational consulting.
  • Certification/License: Current Washington State driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

The full salary range for this position is $45.74 to $53.27 per hour.
