Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior UI/UX Designer with profound expertise in Figma. This role is pivotal in leading the design strategy and execution for complex client projects. The ideal candidate is not just a proficient designer but a strategic thinker who can own the design process from discovery to delivery, ensuring alignment with user needs and business objectives. You will serve as a key client-facing representative of our design capabilities and a mentor within the design team.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Design Leadership & Strategy

· Lead the discovery and research phase for new projects, defining user personas, journey maps, and information architecture.

· Develop and articulate clear design strategies and visions for client projects.

· Establish and govern design standards, patterns, and best practices for the team.

2. Hands-On Figma Design & Execution

· Utilize expert-level Figma skills to create sophisticated wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes for websites and web applications.

· Build, maintain, and evolve scalable, well-documented design systems and component libraries within Figma to ensure consistency and efficiency across all projects.

· Produce pixel-perfect visual designs that effectively balance aesthetics, usability, and brand identity.

3. Client Engagement & Communication

· Act as a primary design contact for clients, presenting concepts, rationalizing design decisions, and managing feedback loops.

· Translate client business goals and user requirements into compelling design solutions.

· Ensure client satisfaction through clear communication, professional deliverables, and a solutions-oriented approach.

4. Collaboration & Handoff

· Work closely with Technical Project Managers to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.

· Collaborate effectively with front-end developers, providing clear design specifications, assets, and context through Figma’s developer handoff features.

· Participate in design reviews and critiques, providing and receiving constructive feedback.

5. Mentorship & Process Improvement

· Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers and interns.

· Contribute to the continuous improvement of the agency’s design processes, tools, and quality standards.

· Stay current with industry trends, design tools, and technologies, advocating for their adoption where beneficial.

Qualifications & Skills

Mandatory Requirements

· Minimum of 3+ years of professional UI/UX design experience.

· 3+ years of daily, expert-level proficiency in Figma, demonstrable through a comprehensive portfolio.

· A strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end case studies for web projects, highlighting your design process, problem-solving skills, and Figma deliverables (wireframes, prototypes, design systems).

· Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, responsive design, and accessibility standards (WCAG).

· Proven experience designing for common CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Shopify).

· Exceptional communication, presentation, and client-relationship skills.

· Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, remote, client-services environment.

Preferred Attributes

· Experience working in a digital agency or similar client-services business model.

· Direct experience collaborating on projects sourced via Upwork or similar freelance platforms.

· Familiarity with project management tools (Asana, ClickUp) and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

· A keen eye for typography, color theory, and visual composition.

Note: This is a design-focused role. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, or front-end development is explicitly not required.
