This is lead supervisory and participatory technical work conducting field inspections and research to document and respond to requests from Florida Sunshine State One Call Center (SSOCOF) to locate and mark the City’s underground potable water, reclaimed water, storm water, wastewater, fiber optic, and street light electrical facilities at various locations throughout the City’s service areas within time requirements specified in the Underground Facility Damage Prevention and Safety Act, Chapter 556, Florida Statutes. Work includes accessing and using computerized Web based ticket management software and emails and monitoring, assigning and distributing locate tickets to ensure balance of workload between a team of technicians. Ensures that all required maintenance of assigned vehicles and equipment is performed and monitors inventory for crews and advises supervisor on equipment and supply needs. May train and instruct crew members on most efficient and safe use of locating tools, proper operational work methods, procedures and safety precautions developed by supervision. Will assist with utility damage hit investigations and provide documented findings to supervision. Work also requires considerable public contact; knowledge of the City’s geography; sound independent judgment; the ability to read maps and plans; skill in the use of electronic pipe locating equipment, shovels, probing rods, and measuring instruments; skill in the use of a personal computer and keyboard; and may participate in the selection, promotion, placement, appraisal, training, safety and discipline of assigned personnel as delegated.
Salary: $26.81 - $37.40 Hourly
