Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Wet utility Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to will lead the planning, design, modeling, and coordination of wet utility infrastructure, including potable water, fire water, wastewater, and stormwater systems for urban development, transportation, industrial, and/or large-scale infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for delivering technically sound designs, managing project tasks, and guiding junior engineers to ensure high-quality, on-time, and on-budget delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Lead design and engineering of wet utility networks, including:
-
Potable water distribution
-
Fire water systems
-
Wastewater collection and conveyance
-
Stormwater drainage and flood control systems
-
Prepare and review engineering deliverables, including:
-
Feasibility studies and concept reports
-
Hydraulic modeling and system analyses
-
Design drawings, specifications, and design reports
-
Bills of quantities and cost estimates
-
Perform and oversee hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, including:
-
Pipe sizing and network optimization
-
Pumping station design, headloss calculations, and surge considerations
-
Stormwater runoff analysis, detention/retention design, and flood routing
-
Use and oversee specialized software tools such as:
-
AutoCAD / Civil 3D or equivalent
-
WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWorks, EPANET, SWMM or similar tools
-
Coordinate wet utility designs with:
-
Roads, structures, landscape, electrical, and other disciplines
-
Existing utilities, diversions, and utility protection requirements
-
Lead interface with authorities and stakeholders, including:
-
Preparation of permit and approval submissions
-
Responding to comments from utility agencies and municipalities
-
Ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
-
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and CAD technicians.
-
Support project managers in planning, scheduling, and controlling project scopes, budgets, and timelines.
-
Participate in value engineering, risk assessment, and constructability reviews.
-
Support proposal preparation, including technical write-ups, scope definition, and level-of-effort estimates.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)

Professional Engineer license/chartership (or eligibility) preferred.

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in wet utilities / water and wastewater infrastructure design.

Proven experience on medium to large-scale infrastructure or land development projects.

Strong knowledge of:

Water supply, wastewater, and stormwater design principles

Local and international standards
-
Utility authority requirements and approval processes
Skills and Competencies

Proficiency in:

AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D

Hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software (e.g., WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, InfoWorks, EPANET, SWMM)

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical report-writing skills.

Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and manage design interfaces.

Excellent communication skills, including client and authority liaison.

Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and mentor junior staff.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
