Join the SIP team as a Server Team Member and help create the welcoming, energetic experience our guests expect. SIP is built around great drinks, genuine hospitality, and a space where people want to stay, connect, and come back.
As a Server Team Member, you will provide friendly and efficient service, take and process orders using Toast POS, serve coffee, food, beer, wine, and alcoholic beverages, maintain a clean and inviting environment, and support the team wherever needed.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys people, works with urgency, takes pride in their environment, and understands that hospitality is more than taking an order.
Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Hospitality
- Welcome and engage every guest with friendly, genuine hospitality.
- Take ownership of the guest experience from arrival through departure.
- Answer questions and make recommendations about coffee, food, beer, wine, cocktails, and other menu offerings.
- Check in with guests and anticipate needs whenever possible.
- Resolve basic guest concerns professionally and involve leadership when appropriate.
- Create an environment where guests feel recognized, comfortable, and appreciated.
- Look for opportunities to build relationships with regular guests and the surrounding community.
Order Taking & Toast POS
- Accurately take and enter guest orders using the Toast POS system.
- Process cash, credit card, gift card, and other approved forms of payment accurately.
- Maintain accuracy when entering modifications, discounts, and special requests.
- Communicate orders clearly with baristas, bartenders, kitchen, and other team members.
- Suggest additional items and appropriate pairings that enhance the guest experience.
- Maintain knowledge of current menu items, pricing, promotions, and product availability.
Beer, Wine & Alcohol Service
- Serve beer, wine, cocktails, and other alcoholic beverages according to SIP standards and applicable laws.
- Verify identification and legal drinking age before serving alcohol when required.
- Follow responsible alcohol service practices at all times.
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and immediately involve leadership when service should be slowed, refused, or discontinued.
- Maintain knowledge of SIP's beer, wine, cocktail, and alcoholic beverage offerings.
- Properly handle glassware, alcoholic beverages, and bar service equipment.
- Follow all applicable Arizona liquor laws and SIP alcohol service policies.
Food & Beverage Service
- Deliver food and beverages accurately, efficiently, and with appropriate presentation.
- Assist with coffee and beverage preparation as trained and needed.
- Properly handle, portion, plate, and serve food products.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, allergen awareness, and proper food-handling procedures.
- Maintain appropriate stocking levels for service areas throughout the shift.
- Communicate product outages or quality concerns promptly.
Cleaning & Store Standards
- Maintain clean tables, counters, floors, service areas, patios, restrooms, and guest spaces throughout the shift.
- Clear and reset tables promptly.
- Wash and properly store dishes, glassware, utensils, and service equipment.
- Complete opening, closing, and assigned side-work responsibilities.
- Clean spills and address cleanliness or safety concerns immediately.
- Restock napkins, straws, cups, glassware, condiments, and other service supplies.
- Follow established cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures.
- Take shared ownership of the entire store rather than waiting to be asked when something needs attention.
Requirements
- Strong hospitality and customer service skills with a friendly, approachable attitude.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and coworkers.
- Comfortable learning and operating the Toast POS system.
- Ability to accurately handle cash and electronic transactions.
- Ability to learn SIP's coffee, food, beer, wine, and cocktail menus.
- Ability to meet all legal requirements applicable to serving alcoholic beverages.
- Ability to follow responsible alcohol service practices and identification procedures.
- Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities during busy periods.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, accuracy, and detail.
- Willingness to clean and maintain all areas of the café as part of the position.
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods and perform the physical responsibilities associated with restaurant and café service.
- Previous restaurant, café, bar, hospitality, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Pay: $12.15 - $14.00 per hour
