Sheet Metal Technician

A. Job Purpose:

The Aircraft Sheet Metal Technician is responsible for the repair and modification of aircraft structure and structural components. The position involves using manual handheld tools and workshop equipment while ensuring that required quality, safety, and technical standards are maintained as per company manuals and regulatory requirements. All work must be inspected and comply with the specified standards.

B. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Liaise with the supervisor on repair requirements and timeline estimations.
• Ensure correct tooling and materials are in place to perform relevant repairs.
• Coordinate with other departments such as NDT or planning to maintain workflow of repairs.
• Perform tasks to standards specified in company procedures and instructions.
• Assist certifying staff in the performance of maintenance tasks.
• Carry out and certify approved specialist activities as authorized.
• Advise supervisory staff of areas of concern regarding defects, safety, and procedures.
• Ensure that completed tasks are certified in the relevant documentation.
• Supervise operatives in the performance of their duties.
• Assist, as nominated, engineers with responsibility for secondary duties.
• Carry out the requirements of the Supervisor.
• Perform any other duties as may be requested by the direct supervisor.

C. Education:

Higher Diploma / Technical-Vocational (Diploma or above to support approvals)

D. Experience:

Experience in metal sheet work – 8 years

E. Certification / Knowledge / Competencies:

• Basic type rating course
• Type rating course on aircraft type
• Certification from associated institution is an added advantage
• Able to work under pressure and in harsh weather conditions
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Oral and written communication
• Fluent in English
• Good hand skills
