Asante Gold Corporation is a gold exploration, development and operating company with a high-quality portfolio of projects and mines in Ghana. Asante is currently operating the Bibiani and Chirano Gold Mines and continues with detailed technical studies at its Kubi Gold Project for early production.

About This Role

Provide Technical support to the Underground Operations Team and oversight to all Underground Mining activities. To follow, and ensure compliance to established policies, practices, and procedures when completing work assignments and ensure continued growth of the Mine Operations Team and to maximize operational safety, efficiencies and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the mine on your shift in both development and production of a trackless mechanized mine.
• Responsible on all aspects of Development Drilling, Production Drilling, Charging and Blasting, Bogging, Hauling Systems and Methodologies.
• Responsible for assessment of all activities and processes related to mine operations.
• Answer queries and assist Mine Captains in handling requests related to mine operations which include problem solving and judgment.
• Discusses short-range mine plans with the Mine Captains and Chief Mine Engineer to ensure they are realistic and achievable.
• Monitor equipment availability and assess production priorities based on availability of equipment.
• Provide information to complete summaries of production activities as required.
• Participate and/or develop applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
• Assist in preparing reports and completing documentations related to Mine Operations.
• Mentor or train less experienced employees on operating standards, procedures and methods.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and regulations in Mine Operations.
• Provide training, workplace inspection and safety awareness to contractors and AGCL operations staff as needed.
• Maintain a positive and close working relationship with other groups in the mine to ensure smooth mining processes.
• Comply and ensures compliance, with established methodologies and quality standards related to mine operations while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches.
• Ensure that safety and welfare of employees is top priority at all times in the work site Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor or authorized delegate.

Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies

• Bachelor's degree of Science in Mining Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of 5 years' working experience in any underground mining operation Knowledge of various underground methods.
• Statutory certification as an Underground Supervisor/Shift Boss.
• Must be a holder of Mine Rescue, Blasting and valid First Aid Certificates.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of the Duty of Care Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Regulations 2012 L.I. 2182, and Mining Inspection Act & Regulations.
• Must have thorough understanding of underground mining operations, and solid safety performance at the personal and professional level.
• Strong computer literacy skills – Advanced Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, etc.
• Must have a Valid driver's license, defensive driving skills with ability to drive underground
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills, with well-developed oral and written communication abilities to interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
