We are seeking a detail-oriented, safety-focused, and proactive Shift Engineer (Chemical Engineer only) to oversee operational activities across the Hydrogen Fluoride (HF), Aluminium Fluoride (AlF₃), Sulphuric Acid (H₂SO₄), and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The Shift Engineer will supervise DCS and field operators, ensure safe and compliant plant processes, maintain quality and environmental standards, and coordinate closely with maintenance and logistics teams during their shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the daily activities logbook and follow up on pending or scheduled tasks, ensuring close coordination with maintenance for timely execution.
- Supervise DCS and field operators to ensure they correctly monitor and control plant operating parameters and take necessary corrective actions for any deviations.
- Review in-process and finished product quality reports, ensuring corrective measures are implemented in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Lead coordination and communication with the maintenance team during breakdowns, shutdowns, and startups to minimize downtime and ensure safe and efficient resumption of operations.
- Conduct daily field inspections to verify equipment condition, safety compliance, and housekeeping, reporting abnormalities for corrective action.
- Assign cleaning and housekeeping tasks to general labours; supervision of labours shall be done by field operators, not the Shift Engineer.
- Oversee critical logistics operations including sulphur unloading, sulphuric acid tanker/IBC filling, AlF₃ lot bagging, AHF ISO container filling, and gypsum silo truck loading.
- Oversee and monitor operational activities of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), including chemical usage, lime requirement requests, and compliance with discharge parameters.
- Take command during emergencies (fire, spills, blackouts, releases, accidents) and initiate first-response actions according to company emergency procedures.
- Analyse operational performance and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
- Ensure environmental compliance under ISO 14001 by monitoring stack emissions, preventing leaks, spills, and fugitive emissions, and ensuring proper waste management.
- Issue, monitor, and close all required safety work permits (PTW), ensuring safe work execution and complete site restoration.
- Prepare and submit all shift documentation including production reports, equipment logs, SO₂ analysis reports, AHF filling records, and other required documents.
- Participate in safety observations, employee performance evaluations, and identify training needs for operators and support staff.
- Support implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Ensure strict adherence to company HSE policies, PTW procedures, and PPE requirements to maintain a zero-accident workplace.

- Knowledge of ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety).
- Proven ability to lead shift teams, manage emergencies, and coordinate multidisciplinary tasks.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Working Conditions
- Rotational shift work, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
