Job Title :Shift Manager

Location: Khanewal Factory

Role Purpose

The Shift Manager is accountable for managing all aspects of production during their assigned shift, ensuring delivery against KPIs in safety, quality, volume, and cost. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that manufacturing processes are executed effectively and efficiently, aligning with Lipton’s operational excellence agenda.

Key Responsibilities

 Production Management

  • Lead the execution of the daily production plan, ensuring targets for volume, efficiency, cost, and quality are achieved.
  • Own delivery of daily shift KPIs including OEE, line productivity, waste %, rework %, and energy efficiency.
  • Receive and verify raw materials and packaging stock prior to usage.
  • Coordinate with planning and warehouse teams to ensure material availability and timely replenishment.
  • Monitor and optimize material consumption to ensure minimal variance and waste.
  • Conduct structured shift performance reviews using short interval control (SIC) and escalation protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with shift handover and tier meeting standards (Tier 1, 2 as per LMS/Manex).
  • Ensure timely data entry in SAP and daily logbooks for traceability and audit readiness.
  • Drive adherence to 5S and hygiene audits during shift and close open observations.

Labor Management

  • Plan, organize, and supervise factory labor including operators, technicians, and contract workers to ensure balanced workloads. Should be able to handle unionized work force.
  • Ensure the right skills are allocated across operations during the shift.
  • Identify skill gaps and organize on-the-job training to enhance team capability.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE usage across the shop floor.
  • Drive implementation of safety, health, and environment (SHE) standards.
  • Ensure product quality through in-line checks and compliance with GMP, HACCP, and other food safety standards.
  • Act promptly to address any deviation in quality or safety.

 Operational Excellence & LMS

  • Lead Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities to ensure machine reliability and operator engagement.
  • Contribute to the implementation and sustainment of Manufacturing Excellence pillars across the floor- deployment and ensure effective handover and review routines.

Continuous Improvement

  • Promote a culture of problem-solving, root cause analysis (RCA), and continuous improvement.
  • Lead Daily Management System (DMS) routines to identify and escalate chronic and sporadic losses.
  • Use tools like RCA, Why-Why, Fishbone, and Pareto to address recurring minor stoppages and breakdowns.
  • Drive zero-defect mindset by partnering with quality team on shift-level defect mapping.

Inventory and Documentation

  • Oversee weekly and monthly material stock takes and reconciliation.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping for production output, downtime, and material usage in SAP.
  • Maintain batch traceability, material usage logs, and shift performance data.

Small Projects & Workplace Improvements

Plan and execute small-scale civil, electrical, or utility improvement projects within the shift scope such as:

  • Epoxy floor repair works
  • Kaizen initiatives to improve layout, flow, or ergonomics
  • Minor office or shop floor renovations
  • Safety enhancements (e.g., guardrail installation, signage)
    • Collaborate with the maintenance, admin, and EHS teams for planning, budgeting, and safe execution.
    • Monitor project timelines, resource utilization, and ensure delivery with minimal production disruption.
    • Track and report benefits realized from Kaizens and workplace improvements.

Key Requirements

Education and Experience

  • 0-1 years of experience in FMCG manufacturing, preferably with direct people management experience
  • Familiarity with factory operations, production systems, and basic maintenance routines.

Technical Competencies

  • Proficiency in SAP (production and material movement modules).
  • Understanding of factory processing and packaging machinery.
  • Exposure to TPM practices and Quality Management Systems.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety protocols and SHE standards.
