Shipping/Receiving I – Local Book Wholesaler

Midwest Library Service is a book wholesaler serving public and academic libraries nationwide. We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Shipping/Receiving I team member to join our warehouse staff. Training is provided, and employees who demonstrate strong performance and reliability may advance to Shipping/Receiving II within approximately six months, with increased responsibility and pay.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pull, verify, and pack customer orders accurately according to packing lists and invoices
• Prepare shipping labels and documentation using shipping software and internal systems
• Ensure all shipments are packaged properly to prevent damage in transit
• Work with carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS, freight) to process outbound shipments
• Receive and assist with restocking incoming inventory
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations
• Communicate with customer service or inventory staff regarding discrepancies
• Monitor packaging supplies (boxes, tape, labels) and report restocking needs
• Operate pallet jacks or other equipment safely (training provided)

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior warehouse or shipping experience preferred but not required
• Basic computer skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
