Shovel operator

Job Summary:
The Shovel Operator is responsible for operating hydraulic or electric shovels to load, move, and transport materials efficiently and safely in compliance with company and regulatory standards. This role requires precision, awareness of safety protocols, and the ability to maintain equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate shovels to load trucks, conveyors, or other transport systems.
• Ensure safe handling of materials and adherence to safety procedures.
• Conduct pre-operational inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Report any equipment malfunctions, damages, or operational issues promptly.
• Maintain operational logs and reports as required.
• Coordinate with other team members and departments for smooth workflow.
• Follow environmental and company guidelines for material handling.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience operating hydraulic or electric shovels or heavy machinery.
• Valid heavy machinery/operator license (if applicable).
• Strong knowledge of safety practices and site regulations.
• Ability to work in shifts, including nights and weekends if required.

Skills:

• Attention to detail and precision in operation.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting.
• Physical stamina and alertness.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to outdoor conditions, noise, and dust.
• May require extended periods of sitting or operating machinery.
