Simulation & Skills Lab Technician **Billings, MT**

The Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing (MRJCON) offers a baccalaureate in nursing, accelerated Baccalaureate in Nursing, Master of Nursing focused on clinical leadership, and Doctor of Nursing Practice with focus in family nurse practitioner, psych-mental health nurse practitioner, and nurse-midwifery. The College has five campus locations across the state, located in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Kalispell, and Missoula.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and take down simulation and skills lab environments, including manikins, task trainers, hospital beds, monitors, IV equipment, and audio-visual systems to prepare simulation and skills lab spaces according to faculty needs and scheduled activities.
  • Assist during simulation and skills lab sessions by providing on-site technical and operational support.
  • Perform and maintain records of routine upkeep, cleaning, functional testing, charging, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of low-, medium-, and high-fidelity simulation manikins and task trainers, as well as repairs, warranties, and service schedules.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and transport of simulation manikins, supplies, and equipment.
  • Manage inventory of simulation and skills lab supplies and consumables, including ordering, stocking, tracking usage, and rotation.
  • Assist faculty in identifying supply needs for new or revised learning activities.
  • Ensure infection control, safety, and equipment-handling policies.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe simulation and skills lab environments.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing faculty, simulation faculty, and staff to support instructional goals.
  • Participate in ongoing evaluation and improvement of simulation and skills lab operations.
  • Assist with implementing new equipment or lab processes.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency with common software applications (e.g., Teams, scheduling tools).
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a clinical, healthcare education, or technical support environment.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Associate’s degree in healthcare, education, technology, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a healthcare simulation lab or skills lab.
  • Experience with healthcare simulation equipment, manikins, or task trainers.
  • Experience with inventory or supply management.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS).

The Successful Candidate Will
  • Knowledge of healthcare simulation equipment and skills lab operations (or willingness to learn).
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently while responding to faculty and student needs.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and position equipment and supplies as required.
