Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Site Civil Engineer to join our engineering consultancy team to supervise construction projects and represent the consultant on site.

The role involves monitoring contractor activities, ensuring compliance with approved drawings and specifications, reviewing contractor claims and variations, and maintaining project quality and progress.

The engineer will act as the consultant’s site representative, ensuring construction is executed according to design, quality standards, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Supervision

• Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and project specifications
• Monitor contractor workmanship and ensure construction quality standards are maintained
• Identify and report deviations from approved drawings
• Verify dimensions, levels, and alignment of structural works
• Ensure construction methods follow approved method statements

Quality Control & Inspection

• Inspect materials delivered to site and verify compliance with approved submittals
• Review contractor material approvals and test certificates
• Conduct site inspections to ensure quality of workmanship
• Issue site observations and non-conformance reports when necessary

Contractor Coordination

• Coordinate with contractor engineers and site staff
• Attend site coordination meetings and technical discussions
• Clarify drawings and technical issues with contractors
• Ensure contractors follow consultant instructions and project requirements

Progress Monitoring

• Monitor construction progress against project schedule
• Identify delays and notify management early
• Review contractor work progress and ensure adherence to timelines
• Prepare weekly progress reports

Contractor Payment Review

• Review contractor monthly payment applications
• Verify actual work completed on site
• Confirm quantities with BOQ and drawings
• Provide recommendations for payment certification

Variation Management

• Review contractor variation requests
• Verify necessity of variations and evaluate cost impact
• Assess quantities and provide technical recommendations
• Maintain variation records and documentation

Snagging & Defect Management

• Conduct snagging inspections during project completion stages
• Prepare detailed snag lists
• Monitor contractor rectification of defects
• Verify completion of all snagging items before project handover

Site Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare daily site reports and weekly progress reports
• Maintain inspection logs and site records
• Document contractor instructions and site observations
• Maintain project documentation and issue tracking logs

Safety Monitoring

• Monitor contractor compliance with site safety regulations
• Identify safety risks and report unsafe practices
• Ensure contractor follows approved safety procedures

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 5 years experience in construction supervision
• Experience working with engineering consultancy firms preferred
• Experience in villa or building construction projects is an advantage
• Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications

Skills Required

• Strong site supervision and inspection skills
• Ability to coordinate with contractors and project teams
• Good knowledge of construction standards and quality control
• Ability to review contractor claims and variations
• Strong reporting and documentation skills
• Professional communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Experience

• UAE construction experience
• Experience with consultant supervision roles
• Familiarity with local construction practices and authority requirements
