Job Purpose

The Site GPS lead role (a form of it is conventionally called ‘Operations Excellence’ role in the local industry) exists to deploy and embed the GPS (GSK Production System) into the site culture to deliver the business strategy & improve business performance (Quality, Safety, Service, Cost & Innovation). As a key member of the site team (line report to the Site Director), the Site GPS lead is accountable for:

  • Developing the Site Strategy in alignment with the Site Director, Leadership team and Business Objectives with a strong Performance Management foundation

  • Driving the culture for Continuous Improvement and fast-paced Problem Solving mindset to achieve Business Excellence towards the goal of zero accidents, defects & waste

  • Ensuring the leadership demonstration and assessing the site for GPS maturity metrics. This includes developing strong Governance systems for key Site issues / objectives and enable the drive for issues resolutions as & when identified

  • Coaching / training site teams on GPS standards & tools

  • Supporting regional GPS teams in any turnaround deployment of GPS to the site

  • Role-modelling excellent communication skills with a passion to drive Cultural & Communication improvements in the teams

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelors (Preferably Masters) in Engineering, Business Management or Pharmacy

  • Preferably 8-12 years of experience in the industry with at least 2-3 years in similar role or profile. Area of Specialization may include Lean Sigma / Manufacturing Operations

  • Demonstrated delivery of improvements initiatives and/or culture changes year on year resulting in both financial & non-financial benefits & cultural drives

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Site director & SLT to identify and agree on the GPS implementation in alignment with the site strategy deployment. Drive site strategy process while showcasing the site at global level

  • Lead day-to-day deployment of the GPS as well as all related improvement activities at site level (business impact on safety, quality, cost, people & innovation)

  • Deploy strong governance system for key issues and business objectives to support leadership team quickly navigate on priorities.

  • Track progress of the site GPS deployment roadmap and self-assess the site GPS maturity level. Agree with regional team targets for improvement

  • Deploy the training & capability building plan as agreed by regional & local GPS network: Support / Deliver the required training Coach site teams to develop and sustain continuous improvement mindsets

  • Prepare & lead GPS council at site. Benchmark site’s performance against other sites / companies
