Job Purpose:

To supervise and coordinate all on-site structural steel erection activities, ensuring work is executed safely, accurately, and in line with project specifications, quality standards, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision & Coordination:

Oversee daily activities of site erectors, riggers, welders, and helpers.

Ensure proper sequencing of erection works as per erection drawings and method statements.

Monitor manpower deployment, productivity, and work discipline on-site.

Site Planning & Execution:

Coordinate the delivery, storage, and movement of structural components and equipment at site.

Verify received steel members against erection drawings and packing lists.

Ensure proper staging, lifting, and alignment of steel elements during erection.

Safety Management:

Enforce the use of PPE and adherence to safety rules on-site.

Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure all workers are aware of potential hazards.

Immediately report incidents, unsafe practices, and near misses.

Quality Assurance:

Check verticality, alignment, bolt tightening, and welding readiness of erected steel components.

Ensure all erection activities are carried out according to approved drawings and specifications.

Coordinate with QA/QC engineers or inspectors for work inspections and approvals.

Problem-Solving:

Resolve minor issues at site including drawing clarifications, access constraints, or material mismatches.

Escalate major issues to the site engineer or project engineer for resolution.

Reporting & Documentation:

Maintain daily work progress records, labor deployment, and equipment usage logs.

Submit daily reports and updates to the site/project engineer.

Assist in preparing material requisitions and tracking pending items.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education: Diploma or Certificate in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering; relevant technical qualifications also considered.

Experience: 5–8 years of experience in structural steel site supervision, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Skills:

Strong understanding of structural steel erection techniques and safety standards.

Ability to read erection and general arrangement drawings.

Proficient in coordinating manpower, materials, and site logistics.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site tasks simultaneously.

Certifications (Preferred):

Safety Supervisor Training Certification.

Working at Heights / Fall Protection Training.

Rigging & Lifting Awareness.
