Key Responsibilities

SMP Manufacturing Engineering Manager

We are seeking a hands-on and results-driven SMP Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead critical engineering support functions during the execution of the Site Separation Management Plan (SMP). This role will focus on ensuring operational readiness and successful execution of transition-related activities, including Ongoing Production Run Inspection (OPRI) coordination, Last Article Inspection (LAI) and First Article Inspection (FAI) support, equipment decommissioning and transfer, technical data management, and execution of engineering projects supporting separation and divestiture objectives.

As a key member of the site SMP transition team, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including site leadership, quality, operations, supply chain, and corporate program teams to ensure smooth, compliant, and timely transition of technical assets, processes, and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead site-level coordination and execution of Ongoing Production Run Inspection (OPRI) activities to ensure process stability and compliance with quality requirements.
  • Support Last Article Inspection (LAI) and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes in accordance with contractual, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Develop, manage, and execute action plans for all engineering tasks tied to the site separation and transition strategy.
  • Oversee the maintenance, decommissioning, and readiness for transfer of production equipment and tooling in alignment with program timelines.
  • Own the technical data management process, ensuring accurate classification, documentation, and proper handling for export compliance and customer transfer.
  • Lead or support project planning and execution for engineering workstreams related to the separation, including process validation, documentation, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with Quality, EHS, and Operations to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations throughout the engineering transition.
  • Ensure accurate and complete capture of technical records, process documentation, and knowledge for handoff to receiving sites or customers.
  • Support audits, site visits, inspections, and technical reviews related to SMP engineering transition activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and key liaison for all manufacturing engineering activities within the SMP program at the site level.
  • Provide regular updates to the Site SMP Transition Lead on status, risks, and mitigation plans for engineering tasks and milestones.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Engineering or related technical field and 5+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing or engineering.
  • Experience managing or supporting production engineering, equipment lifecycle management, or plant transitions.
  • Strong knowledge of inspection processes such as LAI and FAI in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute action plans, coordinate across teams, and manage multiple workstreams under tight timelines
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or regulated production environments.
  • Familiarity with OPRI, LAI, FAI, and associated quality documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of export control classifications, technical data handling, and compliance standards.
  • Prior involvement in site transitions, equipment relocation, or divestiture-related projects.
  • Experience with Collins Actuation products and systems is a plus
