About the Role

The Tacoma Stars are seeking a creative, energetic, and motivated Social Media Intern to help grow the team’s digital presence and connect with fans across social media platforms. This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in sports marketing, communications, digital media, content creation, or professional sports.The Social Media Intern will assist with creating and publishing engaging content, covering games and team events, and helping showcase the Tacoma Stars brand, players, coaches, fans, and community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing the Tacoma Stars’ social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, and other platforms.
  • Create engaging content including photos, videos, graphics, reels, stories, and short-form video.
  • Capture behind-the-scenes content at games, practices, community events, and team activities.
  • Assist with live game-day social media coverage, including real-time updates, highlights, scores, and fan engagement.
  • Help develop and execute social media campaigns and promotional content.
  • Monitor social media trends and identify creative opportunities to increase engagement.
  • Engage with fans and respond to comments and messages in a professional and brand-appropriate manner.
  • Assist with maintaining a social media content calendar.
  • Collaborate with team staff, players, coaches, sponsors, and community partners.
  • Track and report basic social media performance metrics.
  • Support other marketing and communications projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current student or recent graduate studying marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, digital media, sports management, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in sports and social media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and current digital trends.
  • Experience creating content using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Basic photography and/or videography skills are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and creatively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Availability to work some evenings, weekends, and game days.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing or creating content for social media accounts.
  • Experience with short-form video and vertical content.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and insights.
  • Sports, event, or entertainment industry experience.
  • Experience with photography, videography, graphic design, or video editing.
