Position Title

Social Media Manager

Job Description

The Social Media Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, execution, and management of USCENTCOM’s English and foreign-language social media platforms. This role leads digital communication efforts by ensuring consistent, mission-aligned messaging, optimizing audience engagement, and integrating content across platforms. The Social Media Manager develops and implements comprehensive digital strategies that support CENTCOM’s communication objectives while operating in a dynamic, high-tempo environment.

Requirements

Platform Management

  • Oversee and manage daily operations of all social media platforms (English and foreign language)
  • Plan and execute content calendars aligned with strategic communication priorities
  • Ensure consistency in messaging across all platforms and audiences
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align digital efforts with command objectives

Content Development & Execution

  • Develop, synchronize, and publish timely social media content across platforms
  • Ensure messaging consistency during routine operations and crisis events
  • Collaborate with Multimedia Content Creators and analysts to produce engaging, mission-relevant content
  • Adapt messaging for diverse audiences across multiple regions and languages

Crisis Communication Support

  • Support rapid dissemination of critical messaging during high-impact or crisis events
  • Coordinate with leadership to ensure timely and accurate communication
  • Maintain message discipline and alignment with CENTCOM priorities during surge operations

Analytics & Performance Monitoring

  • Analyze social media performance metrics (reach, engagement, followers, sentiment)
  • Use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, platform dashboards) to inform strategy
  • Develop monthly performance reports with actionable insights and recommendations
  • Continuously refine strategies based on data-driven insights and emerging trends

Digital Communication Strategy

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital communication strategy aligned with CENTCOM objectives
  • Establish SMART goals and platform-specific strategies
  • Coordinate with Regional Media Analysts to ensure culturally informed messaging
  • Continuously assess and adjust strategy based on operational needs and engagement trends

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with DoD and CENTCOM policies for digital communications
  • Maintain platform security, access controls, and account integrity
  • Regularly review and enforce best practices for cybersecurity and information protection

Coordination & Integration

  • Collaborate with Website Designer, Multimedia Content Creators, and analysts
  • Ensure integration of messaging across website, social media, and other digital channels
  • Support coordination with interagency, coalition, and partner organizations

Deliverables

Social Media Updates

  • Provide consistent, timely updates across all platforms aligned with strategic messaging

Tracking & Engagement

  • Monitor key individuals, organizations, and trends across social media platforms
  • Track audience engagement and emerging narratives

Monthly Reports

  • Deliver detailed reports on performance, engagement effectiveness, and recommendations

Publication Plan

  • Develop and maintain a monthly digital media publication plan
  • Incorporate regional insights to ensure culturally appropriate messaging

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in social media management, digital communications, or related field
  • Proven experience managing enterprise-level or organizational social media platforms
  • Strong writing, editing, and content development skills
  • Experience with analytics tools and performance reporting
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting government, DoD, or military public affairs operations
  • Familiarity with foreign-language or regionally focused social media strategies
  • Experience coordinating with cross-functional communication teams
  • Knowledge of CENTCOM AOR dynamics and audiences

Security Clearance Requirement

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance

Work Requirements

  • Availability for 24/7 surge support during crisis or high-tempo operations
  • Ability to travel within the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR) as required
  • Operate effectively in a mission-driven, high-tempo environment

Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
