Social Media Manager and Content Creator

Job Overview
December just launched Yaupon Nitro Cold Brew in stores around Austin. Yaupon is a North American descendant of yerba mate offering the same benefits and energy boost with a more rich, roasty flavor. We also serve Yaupon Nitro Cold Brew on tap at festivals, markets and other events around Texas.

We have a powerful social media strategy ready for execution by an equally powerful Social Media Manager, with close support and participation from the rest of the December team. Onboarding target date is April 20th.

Some of the first assignments include:

  • Contact a shortlist of potential brand champions to initiate partnerships.
  • Produce a series of reels and carousels that drive foot traffic to our retail partners and culminate with our launch party in late May.

In most cases you will be responsible for recording/photographing on location and creating the final product for posting. In special cases, such as the launch party and summer campaign, you will have access to a professional film crew and our Designer.

This Manager position will evolve into a full time role including benefits, equity and additional responsibilities including:

  • Manage daily social media activities using scheduling tools like Hootsuite and Buffer to ensure consistent posting and audience engagement.
  • Monitor social listening channels to gather insights on audience sentiment, industry trends, and competitor activities; leverage this data to refine content strategies.
  • Optimize content for SEO by conducting keyword research and applying best practices in digital marketing to increase organic reach.
  • Oversee paid advertising campaigns on Facebook Advertising and other platforms to boost visibility and engagement.
  • Track performance metrics through Google Analytics and web analytics tools; prepare reports to measure campaign effectiveness and inform future initiatives.
  • Foster relationships with influencers, media outlets, and community partners through effective relationship management and public relations efforts.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all digital touchpoints while ensuring proofreading accuracy for all published content.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, design, and sales to align messaging and support e-commerce initiatives.

  • Proven experience in social media management, content creation, digital marketing, or related roles with a strong portfolio of successful campaigns.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with video editing is a plus.
  • Familiarity with social media management tools like Hootsuite and Buffer for scheduling and analytics purposes.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles, keyword research techniques, web analytics (Google Analytics), and social listening tools.
  • Strong understanding of branding principles along with excellent proofreading skills to ensure high-quality content output.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with a knack for relationship management across diverse audiences.
  • Experience in paid social advertising campaigns on Facebook or other platforms is highly desirable.
