The Virginia Women and Family Support Center is seeking a highly organized, creative, and mission-driven Social Media Manager & Executive Assistant to support our communications, marketing, and executive leadership. This dynamic role blends digital storytelling, marketing, administrative coordination, and public relations to help amplify our mission of supporting pregnant women and children experiencing homelessness.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, creative content creator, and detail-oriented professional who is comfortable managing social media, coordinating press opportunities, supporting events, and assisting the Executive Director with outreach and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Creation
- Manage and grow the organization’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Create engaging content including graphics, videos, photos, captions, and stories that highlight programs, events, and impact.
- Develop and schedule weekly and monthly content calendars.
- Capture photos and video content during events, tours, and program activities.
- Edit short-form videos and reels to increase engagement and reach.
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments/messages, and track analytics.
Marketing & Promotion
- Promote programs, workshops, fundraisers, and events through digital marketing campaigns.
- Assist in developing marketing materials including flyers, graphics, and email content.
- Support storytelling efforts that highlight the impact of the organization’s work.
- Coordinate marketing efforts for community partnerships and sponsorships.
Public Relations & Press
- Write and distribute press releases to local media outlets.
- Develop relationships with local media and coordinate interviews or press coverage.
- Assist with preparing talking points and promotional materials for public announcements.
Speaker & Partnership Coordination
- Manage and send out speaker requests for events, conferences, and workshops.
- Coordinate logistics and communication with speakers and partners.
- Track outreach efforts and maintain organized records of requests and partnerships.
Executive Support
- Assist the Executive Director with scheduling, event preparation, and communications.
- Accompany the Executive Director at community events, meetings, and speaking engagements.
- Capture content during events for social media and promotional use.
- Assist with follow-ups, outreach, and partnership coordination.
Event Support
- Support marketing and promotion of organizational events.
- Capture photos and videos during events.
- Assist with on-site coordination and communications.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in social media management, marketing, communications, or public relations.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills.
- Experience creating social media graphics, videos, and digital content.
- Familiarity with social media scheduling tools and analytics.
- Basic videography and video editing experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable working at community events and representing the organization.
- Passion for nonprofit work and supporting women and children.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Canva, Adobe, or similar design tools
- Photography and videography skills
- Experience writing press releases
- Familiarity with nonprofit marketing or fundraising campaigns
Work Environment
This role is based in Gainesville, Virginia and includes both office work and community engagement, including attending events, workshops, and outreach activities with the Executive Director.

The Virginia Women and Family Support Center provides housing, education, and support for pregnant women experiencing homelessness and their children, empowering them to break cycles and build stable futures.
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
