This position is partially or fully grant funded. Employment beyond the term of the grant award may be subject to approval by Executive Council.

This position may also be a Grant Representative, meaning you will be responsible for maintaining grant requirements, including, timely project implementation, preparation of reports, budget management and documentation, analysis of data that supports the execution of the grant(s), and assisting the Grants Department in seeking future funding.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Develops departmental goals, operational objectives, and budgets in line with short and long-range plans for culturally-sensitive social services programs.
  • Strategically plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the various Social Services programs in keeping with the Tribal community’s priorities and needs.
  • Develops and maintains effective inter-agency working relationships while protecting Tribal sovereignty.
  • Collaborates with the Division Administrator to consult with governmental officials at the tribal, municipal, and county levels, private industry, and community members.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures fiscal responsibility.
  • Prepares a variety of reports, studies, and correspondence for Division Administrator, Executive Council, Tribal Court, Tribal Prosecutors, and Tribal community on program services.
  • Completes employee performance evaluations, ensures that training is completed, and administers corrective action with consultation from Human Resources.
  • Establishes and coordinates policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • 5 years of experience in a social work setting
  • 5 years of leadership experience
  • Experience appearing in a court setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, family studies, or closely related field
  • Pass a background check with fingerprint clearance and drug test as a condition of employment and must continue to maintain throughout duration of employment.
  • Effectively use computers and computer application software.
  • Work more than forty hours in a workweek and unusual hours in the event of emergency needs.
  • Understanding of grants and grant compliance

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of progressive experience including at least 3 years of experience leading a tribal ICW program.
  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, family studies, or closely related field
  • Experience working in a tribal setting
