Social Studies Teacher

Job Summary

The Social Studies Teacher for the Primary Section is responsible for teaching foundational concepts of social studies, including history, geography, civics, and culture, in an engaging and age-appropriate manner. The role focuses on developing students’ awareness of society, values, citizenship, and critical thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging social studies lessons aligned with the primary curriculum.
  • Teach basic concepts of history, geography, civics, and cultural studies using interactive methods.
  • Develop lesson plans, worksheets, activities, and assessments suitable for young learners.
  • Encourage curiosity, discussion, and participation in classroom activities.
  • Use visual aids, stories, maps, and hands-on activities to enhance learning.
  • Assess and monitor students’ academic progress and maintain records.
  • Foster moral values, social responsibility, and respect for diversity.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding students’ progress and behavior.
  • Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and extracurricular activities as required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field (B.Ed preferred).
  • Prior teaching experience at the primary level is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to teach using child-centered and activity-based approaches.
  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching young learners.
