Soil Driller Assistant

Position: Soil Drilling Assistant – Portable Drilling Rig
Location: San Carlos, CA
Pay Range: $24.00–$26.00 per hour (based on experience)
Experience: No prior drilling experience required — we will provide full training.

Position Overview

Access Soil Drilling is seeking a motivated and dependable Soil Drilling Assistant to support our field drilling operations throughout the Bay Area. This entry-level position offers hands-on training in geotechnical drilling and sampling, with opportunities for career growth within the company.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Drilling Foreman during soil drilling and sampling on various job sites.
• Maintain drilling equipment, tools, and the company van in clean and working condition.
• Follow all safety procedures and work efficiently in outdoor environments.
• Carry and handle heavy equipment, often over uneven terrain and steep slopes.
• Safely drive a company cargo van to and from job sites.
• Be punctual, reliable, and maintain a strong work ethic daily.

Compensation & Benefits

• Overtime Pay: 1.5× hourly rate for hours over 8 per day and weekends (hours vary daily).

Requirements

• Must pass a background check and provide a current DMV driving record.
• Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle to commute to the San Carlos yard.
• Clean driving record (no DUIs, one or fewer moving violations).
• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and work on steep or limited-access sites.
• Good physical condition and safety awareness.
• Must wear steel-toed boots; company will provide other PPE (e.g., hard hat and safety vest).
• Comfortable driving a cargo van to and from job sites.
• Own a cell phone for daily communication.

Preferred (Not Required)

• Basic mechanical skills, small engine repair, or arc welding experience a plus.
• Prior experience working with minute man drilling equipment is a plus

Schedule

• Monday through Friday.
• Overtime and weekend work as needed depending on job demand.
