Role Overview

The Solution Architect will be responsible for leading target state planning of assigned domains, outlining solution concepts for programs of work, and providing architectural guidance across detailed design and implementation. This role will also contribute to technology innovation, vendor selection, and architecture governance, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and business goals.

Scope of the Role

As part of the core architecture team, and in close collaboration with the Enterprise Architect, the Solution Architect will:

• Define solution outlines and contribute to business case development.

• Provide coaching and mentorship to technical leads and senior developers.

• Advise on architectural considerations in key governance forums.

• Support target state capability planning for the illion software platform.

• Explore emerging technology trends and lead innovation/incubation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design & Planning

• Define target state and high-level roadmap for assigned business domains.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to outline solution options, highlight trade-offs, identify technical debts, and provide inputs for cost estimation.

• Shape solution architecture and high-level design in partnership with technical leads, designers, and business analysts.

Architecture Advisory & Governance

• Actively participate in architecture governance forums to ensure alignment with target state.

• Present solution trade-offs to stakeholders and support prioritization of solution capabilities.

• Provide architectural guidance throughout the solution lifecycle.

Business & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with business stakeholders early in the demand process to shape solution approaches.

• Present and review proposed solutions, ensuring business and technical alignment.

Innovation & Emerging Technologies

• Continuously scan the market for emerging technologies and tools that can provide significant business value.

• Lead incubation efforts for new technologies with potential impact on the business.

Practice Development

• Work closely with the Head of Application Development and Enterprise Architect to uplift architecture practice maturity.

• Contribute to improving the operating model and services of the architecture team.

Key Skills & Experience

• Cloud Expertise: Hands-on experience with Azure or AWS, including hybrid cloud environments.

• Solution Architecture Experience: 5+ years in solution architecture or solution design roles on major software development projects.

• Collaboration Skills: Proven ability to work with enterprise architects, business analysts, developers, management, and business stakeholders.

• Technical Leadership: Experience guiding and mentoring teams through solution design and high-level architecture.

• Integration Expertise: Knowledge of major solution capabilities, including:

  • Batch Integration (ETL)

  • Real-Time Integration (Web APIs, Enterprise Service Bus)

  • Master Data Management

  • Search and Match

  • Application Architecture

• Web Technologies: Experience with projects involving web services and modern web technologies.

• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
