Sous Chef

Job Summary:

The Sous Chef assists the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, ensuring authentic Italian cuisine is prepared to the highest standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene. The role includes supervising kitchen staff, maintaining food quality, controlling costs, and ensuring efficient kitchen workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing, and executing Italian dishes, including pasta, risotto, seafood, meats, and desserts.
  • Supervise kitchen operations during service to ensure quality, consistency, and timely delivery of dishes.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen cleanliness in compliance with local health regulations.
  • Oversee and train kitchen staff, ensuring proper food handling and cooking techniques are followed.
  • Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock checks, and coordinate with suppliers for fresh and quality ingredients.
  • Assist in menu planning and development of seasonal or special Italian dishes.
  • Ensure portion control and minimize food waste.
  • Step in to lead the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Support cost control initiatives and maintain proper documentation of kitchen operations.
  • Collaborate closely with service staff to ensure smooth coordination between kitchen and dining areas.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie, preferably in an Italian restaurant with minimum 4-5 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional and modern Italian cuisine.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED6,000.00 - AED8,000.00 per month
