The Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef in overseeing all culinary operations, including food production, preparation, and presentation for all hotel outlets. This role ensures consistent quality, safety, and sanitation standards while supporting a productive and well-trained kitchen team. The Sous Chef also helps drive menu development, cost control, and overall operational excellence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily food production, preparation, and presentation for all outlets, ensuring consistency with brand and quality standards.
  • Lead, train, schedule, and develop kitchen staff to build a strong, efficient culinary team.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen environment aligned with all health and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor labor, food costs, and operational efficiency; assist with scheduling and reporting to support budget goals.
  • Support and uphold the hotel’s Accident Prevention Program.
  • Partner with the Executive Chef on menu development, costing, seasonal offerings, and banquet selections.
  • Serve as acting kitchen leader in the Executive Chef’s absence to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and flexibility to meet business demands.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Culinary degree or equivalent formal culinary training required.
  • Minimum of five years of professional culinary experience.
  • Previous hotel or hospitality kitchen experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong culinary knowledge, including production techniques, kitchen operations, and cost management.
  • Understanding of hotel operations, safety procedures, labor relations, budgeting, forecasting, and quality control.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate diverse teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication across teams and guests.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $63,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
