Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse needs, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, and other special requirements. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting curriculum, and providing support to enhance the educational experience of each student.
Duties
- Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to create and maintain IEPs.
- Utilize effective classroom management techniques to promote a positive learning environment.
- Provide individualized instruction in literacy, math, and other subjects as needed.
- Conduct assessments and standardized testing to monitor student progress.
- Implement behavioral management strategies and provide behavioral therapy as necessary.
- Facilitate early intervention programs for students requiring additional support.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in special education.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
- Foster strong communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with children with disabilities, including autism and developmental disabilities.
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.
- Proficiency in curriculum development and lesson planning tailored for diverse learners.
- Familiarity with speech therapy techniques is a plus.
- Proven classroom experience with effective behavior management strategies.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and staff members.
- Experience in tutoring or mentoring students is highly desirable.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
