Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs. This role involves developing individualized education programs (IEPs), implementing tailored lesson plans, and utilizing various teaching strategies to enhance student learning and engagement.

Duties

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Utilize effective classroom management techniques to create a positive learning environment.
  • Design and adapt curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with autism, developmental disabilities, and other learning challenges.
  • Provide speech therapy, behavioral therapy, and literacy education as needed.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and specialists to support student development and progress.
  • Conduct assessments and standardized testing to evaluate student performance.
  • Engage in early intervention strategies to support students' academic and social growth.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that incorporate learning technology and innovative teaching methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Foster a nurturing atmosphere that promotes childhood development and child welfare.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; certification in special education is preferred.
  • Experience working with children in educational settings, including preschool or daycare environments.
  • Strong knowledge of behavior management techniques and childhood development principles.
  • Familiarity with IEP processes and experience in developing individualized lesson plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work with students who have varying disabilities, including deaf education experience being a plus.
  • Proficiency in teaching subjects such as math or physical education is advantageous.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.00 - $48.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
