Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education and experience working with children who have diverse learning needs. This role involves developing individualised education plans (IEPs), implementing tailored teaching strategies, and fostering a supportive learning environment for students with varying abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Provide instruction in core subjects such as Math, as well as specialised areas including Speech Therapy and Applied Behaviour Analysis.
  • Utilise effective behaviour management techniques to create a positive classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to support student development and progress.
  • Monitor and assess student performance, adjusting teaching methods as necessary to meet individual needs.
  • Engage in tutoring and mentoring to enhance students' academic skills and self-confidence.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that promotes the social, emotional, and physical development of all students.
  • Provide support in areas such as childcare, toddler care, and preschool education when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent in Special Education or Early Childhood Education.
  • Proven experience working with children in a special education setting is essential.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to proofread educational materials for clarity and accuracy.
  • Experience in teaching physical education is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with tutoring methods and mentoring practices is beneficial.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
