CLASSIFICATION: ACCOUNT CLERK I

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma, G.E.D. certificate or satisfactory progress towards a G.E.D.

2. Demonstrates and/or develops skills to perform routine and repetitive accounting clerical duties.

3. Must meet the requirements of a criminal record check as specified by Kentucky state law.

4. Has met health requirements as specified in district personnel policy.

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:

Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Finance Services

JOB GOAL:

To perform routine clerical accounting duties in the maintenance of assigned accounting records.

CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE REQUIRED:

KNOWLEDGE OF

1. Basic accounting practices and procedures.

2. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.

3. Operation of a computer terminal and other office equipment.

4. Record-keeping techniques.

5. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.

6. Telephone techniques and etiquette.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

ABILITY TO:

1. Perform routine clerical accounting duties in the maintenance of assigned accounting records.

2. Add, subtract, multiply and divide quickly and accurately.

3. Maintain accurate financial and statistical records and compile data from clearly indicated sources.

4. Operate standard office equipment such as a typewriter, calculator, computer terminal, personal computer and
microcomputers to enter and manipulate data.

5. Learn and apply office policies, rules and practices.

6. Understand and follow oral and written practices.

7. Prepare data processing input documents rapidly and accurately.

8. Meet schedules and time lines.

9. Work cooperatively with others.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assemble, match, sort, tabulate, check.

2. Maintain statistical records and process a variety of documents involved in financial transactions.

3. Learn and apply district procedures and policies.

4. Post, balance and adjust accounts; review for accuracy and completeness.

5. Operate standard office equipment including a computer terminal, calculator, typewriter to enter and manipulate
data.

6. Assemble financial and statistical data for various reports from clearly indicated sources.

7. Maintain various records, reports, documents and files as directed; distribute reports as assigned.

8. Assist other accounting clerical personnel in the maintenance of more complex accounts.

9. Check arithmetic calculations on financial records and documents; verify extensions, proper coding and account
numbers.

10. Answer telephone: take and relay messages or transfer calls to appropriate personnel; provide routine
information.

11. Perform related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Number of days worked will be determined by the current school calendar adopted by the Board.

2. Salary commensurate with adopted classified personnel salary schedule for Account Clerk I.

3. Sick leave and emergency leave as stated in Board policy.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of classified

personnel. Evaluation will be conducted by the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Finance
Services.
