Summary:


The Specialist shall assist with the requisite activities involving the establishment, operations, and oversight of power generation and consumption. The responsibilities of this position shall include developing and maintaining dashboards, spreadsheets, and other tools to inform the development and optimization of power assets. The specialist role will collaborate and support the needs of administrative and commercial team members as well as IT, operations, and ET affiliates. This position requires adequate technical knowledge and experience to effectively collaborate with all effected parties on the integration of power service into capital projects. The incumbent must be able to understand, navigate and communicate financial and regulatory circumstances to management and provide trouble-shooting skills as necessary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leverage data and visualization platforms (not limited to SEEQ, DataPARC, Power BI) and in-house training to develop, maintain, and support dashboards for power development and optimization
  • Translate commercial development or trading strategies and administrative requirements into clear, actionable visualizations and performance metrics
  • Monitor and analyze real-time and historical operational, market, and asset performance data to identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with business development, power traders, settlements, IT and operations teams to ensure data accuracy, relevance, and usability
  • Support daily, weekly, and monthly reporting related to generation performance, market exposure, congestion, outages, and forecast accuracy
  • Act as a data and analytics liaison between optimization, operations, IT, and affiliated trading entities
  • Interface with operations, field personnel, and control room staff to understand data generation, tagging, and operational context for assets and systems
  • Validate incoming data for completeness, timeliness, and accuracy; identify and escalate data quality issues impacting analytics or decision support
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of data sources, calculations, and assumptions across dashboards and reports
  • Assist in the design and documentation of KPIs, metrics, and standard reporting frameworks for the power optimization group
  • Provide ad-hoc analytical support to traders, operators, and management during market events, outages, or operational changes
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and improve data workflows
  • Maintain documentation for dashboards, data pipelines, and analytical methodologies
  • Support compliance, audit, and internal control requirements related to data reporting and analytics
  • Continuously improve visualization clarity, performance, and usability based on stakeholder feedback
  • Create presentations for internal and external audiences


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field of study such as business, accounting, finance, or STEM fields of study
  • Experience working with electrical cooperatives, municipalities, regulated or unregulated electric utilities and the unique attributes and constraints of each is preferred
  • Experience working with Dataparc, SEEQ, Power BI, SCADA, or equivalent industrial analytical and visualization tools
  • Strong ability to develop interactive dashboards, KPIs, and visual analytics for operational and market data
  • Strong ability in Excel or similar spreadsheet tools
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with time-series data, historians, and large operational datasets
  • Understanding data modeling, calculations, and metric standardization for performance reporting
  • Ability to validate, reconcile, and troubleshoot data quality issues
  • Effective written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable acting as a bridge between business users and technical teams
  • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-starter with ability to learn quickly

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Associate level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 0-2 years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Specialist level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Senior Specialist level requires a Bachelor’s or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Lead Specialist level requires a Bachelor’s or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job-related experience

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
