Specialist, Ranking and Communications

Recognizing the strategic importance of global and thematic university rankings in shaping institutional reputation, attracting talent, and benchmarking performance, AKU has established a cross‑university Rankings Steering Committee. This position plays a central role in supporting the Committee by coordinating and facilitating efforts to strengthen AKU’s presence and performance in key ranking systems.


Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Specialist, Ranking & Communications.


Responsibilities:

Reporting to the University Librarian, you will be responsible to:

  • lead and support AKU’s Institutional Rankings Steering Committee as a focal point and secretary.
  • collect, verify, and analyse data to improve AKU’s global and thematic rankings.
  • collaborate with Communications team to create campaigns and content on rankings and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiatives.
  • coordinate SDG Impact Rankings submissions and gather SDG-related achievements from departments.
  • manage rankings content, portals, dashboards, and the SDG Hub webpage, following global best practices (e.g., University of Alberta’s SDG Info Hub).
  • produce impact stories for the SDG Hub, website, publications, newsletters, and social media.
  • research global ranking and SDG benchmarks and support mapping and planning exercises.
  • communicate ranking outcomes internally and externally and prepare briefings for leadership.
  • undertake other relevant tasks as assigned.


Requirements:

You should have:

  • A minimum of Master’s degree in Communications, Public Policy,Social Sciences, Education, or related field.
  • Certification or training in data analytics or project management is desirable.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in project coordination, communications, or institutional research.
  • Experience and understanding of higher education rankings, sustainability reporting, or SDG-related initiatives and management will be preferred.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Proficiency in data management and analysis tools (Excel, Power BI will be preferred).
  • Ability to manage multiplestakeholders and coordinate across departments.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with web contentmanagement systems and digital platforms.
