POSITION TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist

REPORTS TO: Principal

WORK DAYS: 190 days per year

PAY FREQUENCY: Monthly

SALARY SCHEDULE: Local Salary Schedule

LOCATION: Harris County School District

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Identifies, plans, and provides services to students who meet eligibility requirements for the speech-language program; communicates with professionals and parents regarding the integration of speech and language goals into the classroom and home environments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:

Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders, Valid Georgia Teacher certification.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
  • Exhibits professionalism
  • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress
  • Assesses students' communication skills to identify communication disorders, determine program eligibility and develop recommendations for treatment
  • Adapts work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans that reflect accommodations, modification, and IEP driven attributes
  • Assures placement of students in the speech-language program and develops and implements speech-language goals/objectives on individualized education plans according to established procedures
  • Participates in IEP meetings
  • Protects the confidentiality of student information
  • Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals such as parents, teachers, physicians, administration, and other professionals in order to integrate speech-language goals into the classroom, other educational programs, and the home environment
  • Reports and maintains student data to assess progress and continuation or termination of services
  • Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies such as hearing aids, FM systems, and augmentative communication devices
  • Provide appropriate documentation for third party Medicaid billing
  • Participates in the RTI process at the local school level as needed
  • Reports information required for local, state, and federal programs
  • Participates in professional learning opportunities provided
  • Assesses student needs, progress, expectations, goals, etc.
  • Assists with school-wide supervision, such as loading/unloading buses
  • Takes all reasonable measures to protect students’ health and safety
  • Performs other duties as assigned

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time position. 8-hour school days, generally Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Routine physical activities required to fulfill job responsibilities; able to lift a maximum of 20 pounds.

Pay: $45,738.00 - $91,917.00 per year
