Sports Maintenance Technician

Cairo, Egypt

Job Purpose


To ensure that all sports facilities and equipment are always ready, safe, and well-maintained for daily use, training, and competitions by carrying out regular maintenance and providing technical support in coordination with the Service and Sports Departments.


Facility Preparation & Operations


• Open and prepare all sports facilities, including football, multi-purpose, tennis, and padel, before use.

• Set up courts for training, recreational activities, and official competitions.

• Install, adjust, and take down sports equipment such as nets, poles, goals, referee stands, and scoreboards.

• Make sure all equipment is in the right position and meets sport-specific standards.

• Monitor usage schedules, confirm bookings, and ensure users follow facility regulations.

• Record the number of users, report unusual activity, and submit daily logs.

• Secure and lock facilities after hours, ensuring no equipment is left unattended.


Facility Maintenance & Safety


• Inspect artificial turf daily; brush, groom, and redistribute rubber granules as needed.

• Water artificial turf to remove dust and maintain its durability.

• Inspect padel courts by checking glass panels for scratches or cracks, tightening screws, and ensuring structural stability.

• Inspect and maintain fences, protective nets, and surrounding barriers for all facilities.

• Refresh and repaint court markings for visibility and compliance with official standards.

• Maintain metallic structures like goalposts, referee towers, and fencing with anti-rust treatments.

• Conduct daily walkarounds to identify hazards, damage, or safety risks, and take action promptly.

• Perform first-level maintenance and repairs, such as tightening, minor fixes, and replacing small parts.

• Report major maintenance issues to the Service Department and follow up until resolved.

• Assist electricians with lighting checks to ensure night visibility is adequate.

• Respond immediately to emergency maintenance issues during activities or events.


Equipment Management


• Issue sports equipment like balls, rackets, nets, cones, and training kits to students, staff, and teams.

• Provide on-site equipment during team practices, tournaments, and competitions.

• Keep proper records of issued and returned equipment to prevent loss.

• Follow university policy for padel racket issuance (authorized personnel only).

• Collect and secure equipment after each activity.

• Store all equipment in designated storage rooms and ensure proper organization.

• Maintain an up-to-date inventory list of equipment and submit requests for replenishment.

• Conduct regular stock counts and report missing or damaged items.


Coordination & Support


• Work with the Housekeeping team to schedule and oversee facility cleaning before and after activities.

• Ensure Housekeeping cleaning meets required standards and report any deficiencies.

• Support referees, coaches, and sports staff with technical and logistical needs during training and events.

• Help organize sports events, including transportation, setup, and takedown of equipment.

• Collaborate closely with other Department to ensure facility readiness aligns with sports programs.

• Communicate effectively with the Service Department about technical issues, repairs, or upgrades.


Administration & Reporting


• Maintain daily operation logs that include facility condition, user numbers, and incidents.

• Prepare weekly and monthly reports on facility maintenance and equipment usage.

• Document and report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to the Sports Department right away.

• Keep records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

• Suggest improvements for facility operations and long-term maintenance plans.


Other Duties

Perform any other tasks assigned by the Sports Department related to sports facilities, equipment, or event support.
