About the Target India Marketing

The Marketing team at Target in India dedicated to bringing one of the world's most beloved and recognizable brands to life in India. Whether through design, marketing or brand work, we are the driving force behind delivering Target's dynamic, inventive and unmistakable storytelling to its audience.

The Role

A role with Target in India Marketing is an opportunity to work with some of the best in the business for marketing, strategy, media & digital and you'd lead work that connects to millions of guests. Your influence will drive sales and grow brand love through work that's guest-centric, on brand, category relevant and channel focused.

As a Senior Art Director in the Enterprise Creative team, you'll use your skills, experience and talents to be a part of groundbreaking thinking and visionary goals.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Art Direction & Execution

  • Bring equal strength in conceptual thinking, visual storytelling, and execution across print and digital channels

  • Have a deep understanding of art direction, design systems, photography and brand storytelling—applying creative and strategic thinking to deliver impactful marketing communications that resonate with diverse audiences

  • Be a thought and execution leader in your area of expertise and have the ability to closely work with multiple partners and drive the team towards superior creative execution

  • Translate complex thoughts and concepts into visually compelling stories and campaigns that address specific marketing communication goals and business objectives

  • Directly manage development of the creative, from concept to execution by being able to understand the business context and applying design skills to solve the specific Marketing communication goals

  • Serve as a steward of the Target brand in support of Target's purpose to help all families discover the joy of everyday life, infusing the work with an unmistakable Target approach

Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving

  • Be a problem solver with strong critical thinking abilities and a passion for creating ideas that can scale seamlessly across multiple platforms

  • Create and produce marketing content that helps us engage in a dialogue with Target as a global brand

  • Identifying, researching, analyzing and managing risks and interdependencies within projects/systems/resource changes and formulates appropriate plans

  • Assists in solving challenges & delivering innovative new experiences with internal & external partners

  • Critical to this role is staying current with media trends and experiences, developing competent base knowledge of categories and audience behaviors, and being a passionate advocate for great design

Digital & Technical Excellence

  • Collaborate with UI engineering to design and develop websites, tools, and digital experiences

  • Use industry-standard design tools and software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma), to enhance productivity and creative output

  • Work alongside the motion media team to develop storyboards, illustrations, and engaging video content

  • Link the gap between technology and design by providing technical guidance during the process of design

  • Expertise in current media-specific creative - digital (UI & UX) and print (Off-set/digital printing etc.)

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Be a go-getter who should be able to operate independently without the need of too much guidance

  • Take the initiative to lead and assist with special projects which could either be self-identified or assigned

  • Build and maintain partnerships across Marketing, Communications, and other business teams/pyramids within Target in India

  • Effectively present and communicate creative strategies and key decisions to leadership teams and larger organization

  • Collaborative influencer with a clear POV and ability to establish rapport with peers


About You

Education & Experience

  • Four-year degree in design or equivalent educational qualification

  • 8+ years total experience, with 5+ years in an art director role

  • Experience with a large marketing / advertising firm or directly with a corporation

  • Exposure to multichannel marketing creative

  • Experience leading multi-channel work from ideation through execution


Skills & Competencies

  • Expert knowledge of standard design software (Adobe Creative Cloud - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, Mac platform, etc.)

  • Expertise in current media-specific creative - digital (UI & UX) and print (Off-set/digital printing etc.)

  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an innovative mindset

  • Possess excellent communication skills and demonstrates thought leadership

  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to demonstrate thought leadership qualities

  • Possesses refined presentation and negotiation skills, and the ability to align partners in high stakes moments

  • Ability to adapt to and lead in new spaces—like AR/VR, streaming, the metaverse, etc.
