The Senior Civil Design Engineer will lead the planning and structural design of large-scale civil infrastructure for One Network’s most complex enterprise and smart city initiatives. You will serve as the technical authority for ducting networks, foundation systems, and structural deployments, ensuring all designs are optimized for long-term scalability, cost-efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead Design & Engineering: Oversee the end-to-end design lifecycle for high-density fiber ducting, tower foundations, and modular data center sites.
- Technical Authority: Review and approve complex structural calculations, geotechnical reports, and site-specific layouts to ensure structural integrity and longevity.
- Strategic Planning: Lead feasibility studies for large-scale enterprise rollouts, identifying engineering risks and proposing mitigation strategies during the pre-bid or planning phase.
- Interdisciplinary Integration: Act as the primary civil liaison between Electrical, RF, and IT Network teams to ensure seamless integration of "Smart" infrastructure (e.g., IoT sensors, EV charging, and 5G small cells).
- Standardization: Develop and maintain internal design standards and "Typical Drawings" to streamline project delivery across the Enterprise Solutions portfolio.
- Project Oversight: Manage external design consultants and contractors, ensuring their submittals (Method Statements, Shop Drawings) align with One Network’s quality benchmarks.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and peer reviews for junior and mid-level design engineers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE/PEng) license preferred).
- Experience: 7–10 years of proven experience in civil design, with a heavy emphasis on telecom (Oyster/OSP), data centers, or large-scale smart city infrastructure.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading design teams or managing the civil scope of multi-million dollar enterprise projects.
Required Advanced Skills
- Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D (for grading and earthworks). Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro or SAP2000) is highly desirable.
- Foundational Knowledge: Deep understanding of soil mechanics, concrete design, and wind-loading requirements for tall structures (poles/towers).
- Commercial Acumen: Advanced skills in preparing detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and CAPEX estimations for civil works.
- Regulatory Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of local building codes, Right of Way (ROW) permits, and environmental impact standards.
- Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex site constraints (e.g., existing utility clashes or difficult terrain) with innovative engineering solutions.
