Sr. Contract Analyst - Annuity

Overview: Draft, file and secure state approvals of life or annuity products/forms to support product development and product initiatives. Other accountabilities include review of associated advertising materials, the review and communication to internal business units on new or revised legislation and implementation of that information and compliance with applicable regulatory reporting requirements. Serve as an internal resource on regulatory and product related issues and as a liaison to state insurance departments. Responsibilities:
  • Draft language for new and existing life or annuity forms consistent with product specifications.
  • Review and interpret state regulations to ensure language and design of forms comply with state regulations.
  • Coordinate compilation of actuarial memos, sales illustrations, etc., and, if applicable, marketing materials, included with state filings.
  • Participate in and support the development and implementation of new and revised products.
  • Provide regulatory input and perspective to product design and implementation teams.
  • Accurate preparation and submission of forms to State Insurance Departments/Interstate Compact to secure state approvals in a timely manner.
  • Respond to state objections in a timely manner to secure state approvals, which may include collaborating with other departments, such as Legal, Compliance, Actuarial, Claim, Underwriting, Information Technology, etc. to address concerns.
  • Accurate, detailed and timely communication of state approvals for implementation.
  • Participate to ensure accurate and current procedures are maintained for documentation of form drafting, filing, and state approvals.
  • Maintenance of state form approval files in accordance with established guidelines for Market Conduct Exams.
  • Monitor, review, research and interpret applicable state and federal regulations for impact to life or annuity products to ensure all regulatory requirements are incorporated into company policies and practices; make recommendations and develop processes necessary to comply with updated state regulations.
  • Develop working relationships with State Regulators to address decisions rendered by state personnel and, at times, openly and diplomatically address disagreement or concerns regarding disapproval of state filings.
  • For the Life Division, continue to expand job and product knowledge by participating in industry and regulatory meetings, with manager’s approval; utilize these meetings to network with state insurance department representatives.
  • Participate in state Market Conduct Exams and Litigation requests, as needed.
  • Assist with training and support for other contract analysts.
  • Support business areas with compliance activities by acting as a resource and serve as compliance liaison to other departments, using analysis and judgment to suggest possible compliance actions and solutions.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent business experience Preferred
  • 5-7 years' related experience Required
  • Analytical abilities similar to those of a paralegal with two or more years’ experience in reading and interpreting laws and regulations
  • Working knowledge of insurance products
  • Prior advertising review experience
  • Ability to make sound and proper decisions by drawing on professional expertise and experience
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent proofreading skills
  • Proficient in use of PC software (MS Office-Word, Excel, Access, Adobe Acrobat or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with SERFF state filing submission program
  • Ability to build key relationships with regulatory personnel as well as industry contacts, business partners, and internal associates
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team by demonstrating flexibility, understanding of other positions, providing constructive and relevant input into discussions
  • FLMI if supporting Life Business Preferred Or
  • AAPA if supporting Annuity Business Preferred

Pay Transparency Verbiage: Range includes data points from multiple labor markets. Specific range is dependent on the labor market where the incumbent will be hired to perform the position. Starting salary is dependent on candidate qualifications and experience. For a narrower salary range specific to your labor market, please inquire.
