Department Summary
The Senior Director for Gift Planning supports Ohio University’s gift planning program, focusing on the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors making deferred and complex gifts. Serving as the university’s subject-matter expert, the Senior Director partners with development colleagues across Advancement to integrate planned giving into fundraising strategies. This role also drives marketing efforts to expand the donor pipeline and ensures thoughtful stewardship of planned giving donors.
The Senior Director manages a portfolio of prospects, developing strategies to secure meaningful commitments for The Ohio University Foundation. They provide guidance and expertise to colleagues on structuring and stewarding planned gifts, while collaborating across Advancement to align efforts with university priorities. The role also oversees planned giving marketing initiatives and contributes to special projects that strengthen the visibility and impact of the Office of Gift Planning.

Position Profile
Solicits and coordinates the administration of planned gifts through bequests, trusts, and other deferred giving strategies. Cultivates relationships with alumni, donors, foundations, and corporations to support the University’s mission. Ensures the University has the resources necessary for growth and engages the community to advance its long-term goals.

Level Summary
Manages and resolves complex and ambiguous issues. Works on both strategic and operational challenges, addressing problems that require advanced knowledge and experience. Often takes on leadership roles in projects or initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Provides mentorship and guidance to team. Infrequently has a limited number of direct reports.

Physical Requirements
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 or more years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
JD or master’s degree preferred

Pay Rate
The proposed salary range for this position is $68,299 to $92,205. The salary negotiated at the time of offer will be commensurate with education and experience while also considering internal equity. For more information on the pay structure and Pay Administration Guidelines please visit:
