Job Title: Sr. Director, Marketing (Retail Growth & Brand Strategy)

Position Objective
The Sr. Director, Marketing is responsible for leading Schwazze’s retail-focused marketing strategy and execution, partnering closely with the EVP of Retail and cross-functional leadership to drive customer acquisition, brand relevance, and revenue growth across the company’s retail banners.
This role serves as the strategic bridge between retail operations and marketing execution, ensuring that promotional programs, brand initiatives, digital engagement, and in-store marketing efforts work together to drive measurable business performance.
The Sr. Director will lead a team of Marketing Managers responsible for banner marketing, campaign execution, and retail brand stewardship while collaborating with internal partners across Digital, Merchandising, Retail Operations, Analytics, and Promotions to deliver disciplined, high-impact marketing programs. Success in this role requires a merchant-minded marketing leader who understands the realities of multi-unit retail operations and can translate brand strategy into actionable programs that drive store traffic, conversion, and customer loyalty.
As Schwazze continues to grow, this leader will also help shape the evolution of our marketing capabilities, including customer acquisition strategy, digital marketing performance, and scalable campaign infrastructure.

Essential Functions
Retail Marketing Strategy & Commercial Alignment (30%)

Partner closely with the EVP of Retail to align marketing strategy with store performance goals, promotional priorities, and customer engagement initiatives.

Translate retail and merchandising objectives into coordinated marketing campaigns that drive traffic, basket size, and conversion.

Lead the development of annual and quarterly marketing roadmaps supporting retail growth, customer engagement, and brand visibility.

Support new store openings, market expansion, and banner growth with integrated launch and awareness strategies.

Ensure marketing initiatives align with inventory priorities, vendor partnerships, and merchandising strategies.

Serve as a strategic marketing advisor to retail leadership, helping connect marketing activity to revenue and store-level performance.

Develop scalable local store marketing programs that enable individual dispensaries to drive traffic through community engagement, geo-targeted campaigns, and local partnerships.
Brand Leadership & Campaign Strategy (20%)

Provide strategic direction and oversight for brand marketing across Schwazze’s retail banners.

Customer Acquisition, Digital & Growth Marketing (20%)

Partner with Digital Marketing leadership to optimize customer acquisition strategies across paid media, digital channels, and CRM programs.

Support the development of integrated omnichannel campaigns across email, SMS, digital platforms, and in-store experiences.

Identify opportunities to expand digital marketing capabilities including performance marketing, audience segmentation, and targeted acquisition programs.

Collaborate with analytics and digital teams to improve marketing ROI and campaign effectiveness.

Ensure alignment between digital storefront merchandising and physical retail priorities.
Promotional & Retail Activation Strategy (15%)
- Serve as the marketing partner to Promotional Planning, ensuring promotional calendars and campaigns are brand-aligned and operationally executable.

Work closely with Retail Operations and Merchandising to ensure promotions are communicated clearly and executed consistently across stores.

Support vendor marketing initiatives and supplier partnerships that enhance retail campaigns.

Help coordinate experiential marketing programs, community activations, and brand events that strengthen customer engagement.
Marketing Team Leadership & Organizational Development (10%)
- Lead and mentor a team of Marketing Managers responsible for banner marketing and campaign execution.

- Define marketing success metrics tied to traffic, conversion, digital engagement, and campaign ROI.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.

10+ years of progressive marketing experience with at least 4–6 years in a senior leadership role.

Experience managing integrated marketing teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

Strong understanding of retail promotions, brand marketing, and customer engagement strategy.

Experience leading multi-channel marketing campaigns including digital and in-store initiatives.

Strong analytical capabilities with experience translating marketing performance data into strategic insights.

Experience in cannabis, retail, consumer packaged goods, hospitality, or other regulated industries preferred.
