About the Role:
We are UK based company and seeking a highly experienced and meticulous EXIM (Export-Import) Logistics Executive/ Senior Executive to oversee and manage all aspects of our international logistics operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods across borders, from origin to destination. This role requires in-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, freight forwarding, and supply chain optimization. The EXIM Logistics Manager will play a critical role in streamlining our export and import processes, minimizing risks, and enhancing overall supply chain efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Export & Import Operations Management:
- Plan, execute, and monitor all export and import logistics activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Manage end-to-end shipping processes, including documentation, customs clearance, freight forwarding, and transportation.
- Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., Sales, Procurement, SCM, Accounts) and external partners (e.g., freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers).
Customs & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure strict adherence to all national and international EXIM regulations, customs laws, and trade agreements.
- Prepare and verify all necessary export and import documentation (e.g., Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading/Air Waybill, Certificate of Origin, Shipping Bills, Bill of Entry).
- Liaise with customs authorities, resolve any issues, and ensure smooth clearance of shipments.
- Stay updated on changes in EXIM policies, tariffs, and trade compliance requirements
Freight & Carrier Management:
- Negotiate freight rates and contracts with shipping lines, airlines, and logistics service providers to optimize costs and service levels.
- Evaluate and select reliable freight forwarders and carriers based on performance, cost, and service quality.
- Monitor carrier performance and resolve any transit or delivery issues.
Supply Chain Optimization:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in EXIM logistics to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and lower costs.
- Implement best practices in international logistics and supply chain management.
- Manage inventory in transit and optimize warehousing and distribution for international shipments.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all EXIM transactions, licenses, permits, and correspondence.
- Ensure proper archiving of documents for audit and compliance purposes.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks in international logistics (e.g., delays, damage, compliance issues) and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage cargo insurance and claims processing.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports on EXIM activities, including shipment status, costs, transit times, and compliance metrics.
- Analyze logistics data to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CILT, FIATA Diploma) are a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-7 years of progressive experience in EXIM logistics, with a proven track record in managing international shipments (both export and import)
- Demonstrated experience in customs clearance procedures and international trade compliance.
- Experience in negotiating with freight forwarders and carriers.
- Familiarity with relevant logistics software and ERP systems.
Skills & Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of EXIM regulations, Incoterms, customs tariffs, and international shipping documentation.
- Strong understanding of various modes of transportation (sea, air, road) and their respective requirements.
- Proficiency in logistics management software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze complex logistics data, identify bottlenecks, and develop effective solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in handling documentation and ensuring compliance.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation abilities for freight rates and service contracts.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously.
- Risk Management: Proactive in identifying and mitigating potential risks in the supply chain.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to dynamic global trade environments and regulatory changes.
