About Us:
We are a dynamic engineering & construction company specialising in landmark building projects across the UAE. We deliver high-quality mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services and are looking to bring on a Senior Mechanical Site Engineer to lead the mechanical discipline on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all mechanical site activities in an MEP construction environment including HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting and LPG systems.
- Shop Drawings & Material Submittals:
- Prepare, review and submit mechanical shop drawings and material submittals in a timely manner.
- Ensure that shop drawings and submittals reflect the design intent, contract specifications, coordination with other disciplines and are fully compliant with codes, standards and site conditions.
- Track the review and approval cycle of shop drawings/material submittals; ensure proper revision control, timely resubmissions, and linkage to procurement/fabrication/installation.
- Use the submission process to identify and resolve clashes, coordination issues (e.g., HVAC ducts vs structural penetrations, plumbing vs fire-fighting services), and any deviations before fabrication begins — thereby reducing costly rework, installation delays and liability risks.
- Ensure that approved drawings/material submittals serve as the basis for procurement, fabrication, installation and as-built documentation.
- Review mechanical design drawings and specifications, ensure compliance with project requirements and local codes.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, other disciplines (electrical, structural, architectural) and project management teams.
- Ensure proper installation, testing and commissioning of HVAC systems, plumbing networks, fire-fighting systems and LPG systems.
- Monitor site progress, maintain mechanical work schedules, track manpower and materials, foresee and mitigate schedule or quality risks.
- Conduct site inspections, quality checks, ensure adherence to safety, health & environment (SHE) standards and ensure the work meets mechanical scope and specification.
- Prepare mechanical progress reports, as-built documentation, punch-lists and handover packages.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior mechanical engineers/technicians on site.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- At least 6 years of proven experience in mechanical engineering on building MEP construction projects with major exposure to HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting and LPG systems.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC design and execution (air-handling units, VRF/chiller systems, ductwork, controls).
- Experience in plumbing systems (domestic cold/hot water, drainage, storm water).
- Solid experience in fire-fighting systems (sprinklers, hydrants, clean-agent systems).
- Proven experience in LPG system design or execution is a strong advantage.
- Excellent understanding of the shop drawing/material submittal process, its role in mitigation of risk, coordination of trades, accuracy of fabrication/installation and documentation for as-built and maintenance purposes. (See, for example, how shop drawings act as a bridge between design intent and actual installation.
- Good knowledge of local UAE building codes and MEP standards, and relevant health & safety regulations.
- Strong subcontractor management, coordination skills, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Able to work on site under high-pressure conditions, flexible to visit demands.
