Sr. Planning Engineer

Job Summary: Our client, a prominent engineering consultancy firm, is urgently seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Planning Engineer to join their team in Doha, Qatar. This critical role involves leading and managing planning and scheduling activities for significant building projects, with an immediate start required. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience within a consultancy environment and a proven track record of successful project delivery in the building sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules using industry-standard software (e.g., Primavera P6).
• Prepare and update project baselines, progress reports, and forecasts for complex building projects.
• Conduct critical path analysis and identify potential project delays, risks, and opportunities.
• Develop effective mitigation strategies and recovery plans to keep projects on track.
• Liaise closely with project managers, clients, and contractors to ensure schedule alignment and efficient resource allocation.
• Prepare various planning documentation and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including progress reports, variance analyses, and look-ahead schedules.
• Participate in progress meetings, provide expert advice on planning and scheduling matters, and present schedule updates.
• Ensure all planning activities adhere to project specifications, client requirements, and international best practices.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior planning staff, if applicable.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in project planning and scheduling roles.
• Sector Experience:
• Extensive experience working for Consultancy Firms is mandatory.
• Demonstrated experience with Building Projects (high-rise, commercial, residential, mixed-use, etc.) is essential.
• Skills:
• Advanced proficiency in project planning and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Certifications: UPDA registration is NOT required for this position.
• Location: Must currently reside in Doha, Qatar, or be prepared for immediate relocation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous approval or experience working on projects for the Public Works Authority (PWA) in Qatar is highly preferred.
• Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) are a plus.
